Wer Sufjan Stevens kennt, beim Namen Danielson aber an Radsport denkt, soll dies hier und jetzt zum letzten Mal tun. Unter demselben Namen setzt ein amerikanisches Kollektiv GROSSE Vorstellungen von Popmusik um. Das Boot von Mastermind Daniel Smith ist auf „Ships“ (Secretly Canadian / Irascible) ganz schön voll, neben Sufjan sind Mitglieder von Why? und Deerhoof an Bord. Der vielköpfige Freundeskreis zelebriert das nerdige Songwriting mit ähnlich ungestümer Intelligenz wie Islands, die übrigens bald hier spielen. Ekstatisch, bombastisch, fantastisch!

Die Müllberge des Roskilde Festivals sind abgetragen und die Zelte der 100’000 Besucher abgebrochen oder verbrannt. Was bleibt? Neben einem Teint von vier Tagen Sonnenschein und lädierten Ohren, Leber oder Lungen vor allem Erinnerungen an magische Konzertmomente. Solche gab es z.B. bei Fat Freddys Drop, Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins, Why?, Ed Motta und dem Tied & Tickled Trio. Eher traurig dagegen, was die Legenden boten. Axl kam eine Stunde zu spät, Bob Dylan schien hinter einer musealen Vitrinenglaswand zu spielen und Roger Waters verlor sich im Grössenwahn. Für Gänsehaut sorgte hingegen die dänische Popszene mit Under Byen, Rumpistol und Melk. Schön war’s mal wieder, am vielleicht schönsten Festival der Welt.
