„..Hilfe, Der Strom ist aus…“ mit dieser Ansage und einem grossen Gekrache hat am Samstag unser von Greenpeace organisiertes Konzert in Liestal begonnen. Obwohl wir alle etwas ausgelaugt und müde waren, konnten wir somit inspiriert unsere Vorproduktion von letzter Woche abschliessen. Es war für uns alle eine sehr intensive Zeit – viel denken, spielen, reden, fühlen (nach Produzent Ken Thomas das wichtigste!), rauchen, essen (Dank Ergün in Lausen viele feine Pizzas) und trinken – und dies alles in unserem Bunker ohne Tageslicht. Den passenden Teint fürs Studio haben wir also schon!

Am Sonntagmittag haben sich dann Samuel und Jenny mit voll gepacktem Wagen auf die deutsche Autobahn bewegt und sich auf nach Hamburg gemacht. Eine lange, etwas anstrengende, aber auch sehr schöne Reise – geprägt von einem Song aus dem Spielfilm von South Park (s.Titel), den sie sicher all Stunde mal anhören mussten und sich köstlich amüsiert haben. Der wird sie wohl für immer an diese Reise erinnern! Die restlichen Jungs und Ken sind unterdessen am Abend mit dem Flugzeug in der Hansestadt eingetroffen, wurden abgeholt und direkt zur Unterkunft gebracht – für den Maestro ein Hotel in der Nähe des Studios und für die Band ein Apartment 5 Minuten von der Reeperbahn entfernt.

Als das Auto dann gegen Mitternacht ankam, liessen wir es uns natürlich nicht nehmen noch einen ersten Blick ins Studio zu werfen. Die Atmosphäre in einem Studio ist immer sehr speziell, es fühlt sich an wie eine Art Blase, in der die Zeit einfach stehen bleibt… Wir können jedenfalls alle kaum darauf warten endlich loszulegen und die Songs Stück für Stück fertig zu stellen – morgen geht’s los!

„..Help, the electricity’s gone…“ with this introduction and a big kaboom we started our show at the Greenpeace-organized Open Air – so although we’ve all been pretty strung-out and tired, we could finish our preproduction work with some inspirational live energy. It was a very intense week for all of us – a lot of thinking, playing, talking, feeling (the most important thing according to Ken Thomas!), smoking, eating (cheers to Ergün in Lausen for the marvellous pizza) and drinking – and all of this in our bunker without daylight. So we already have the fitting complexion for the studio!

Early on sunday, Jenny and Samuel have started their journey on the Autobahn to Hamburg in a car packed to the roof. It was a very long, a bit tiring but also very beautiful trip – the soundtrack being a selection of songs from South Park, the TV series (see title), to which they listened to over and over again. Meanwhile, the rest of the boys and Ken chose the easy way of travelling and went by plane in the evening, were picked up at the airport and brought to the places that they will call home for the next two weeks – for the maestro it is a hotel very close to the studio and for the band an apartment 5 minutes away from the Reeperbahn.

When the car arrived at around midnight, we all went to the studio to drop our equipment and have a closer look at the studio. The atmosphere in a studio is always very special, it feels like being in a bubble where time just stands still…We all can’t wait to start recording and working on our songs bit by bit – kick off is tomorrow at 12!
